SuperMute is the missing mute button for Android – one tap mutes, one tap restores. Built to be fast, predictable, and privacy-first.
What SuperMute Does
SuperMute gives you a clean, one-tap way to silence your phone and restore the exact volume levels you had before. No hunting through sliders. No guessing what Android is doing today.
Key Features
- One-tap mute + restore for all supported audio streams
- Smart Restore respects manual changes you make while muted
- No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking
- Fast and predictable – designed to do one job extremely well
System Requirements
- Android: 7.0 (Nougat) or newer
- Devices: Phones and tablets
- Distribution: Google Play Store
- Permissions: One-time Notification Access (required for system-wide mute control)
Getting Started (One-Time Setup)
The first time you tap the SuperMute icon, Android will send you to Notification Access. This is expected – Android requires explicit approval before any app can manage system-wide audio states.
Setup Steps
- Install SuperMute from Google Play
- Open the app
- Enable Notification Access for SuperMute
- Return to your home screen
- Tap SuperMute again to perform the first mute
Tip: After granting permission, the first tap may just complete setup. Tap the icon one more time to trigger the first mute.
Common Use Cases
- Instantly silencing your phone before a meeting, call, or recording session
- Muting notifications in public spaces without juggling sliders
- Temporarily muting while keeping alarms safe
- Restoring previous volume levels reliably after a quiet period
Known Limitations (Android Rules)
Some audio sources are protected by Android. For example, Google Assistant / Gemini audio cannot be programmatically muted by third-party apps. SuperMute mutes every audio stream Android allows an app to control.
