Using SuperMute

SuperMute is designed for instant, predictable muting with zero learning curve. This guide covers basic operation and advanced tips.

Basic Operation

To Mute Your Phone
  1. Pull down your notification shade
  2. Tap the SuperMute toggle
  3. Your phone is now muted

All supported audio streams (ringtone, notifications, system sounds) are set to zero. Media and alarm volumes are preserved.

To Restore Volume
  1. Pull down your notification shade
  2. Tap the SuperMute toggle again
  3. Your previous volume levels are restored

SuperMute remembers your exact volume settings before muting and restores them precisely.

How Smart Restore Works

SuperMute’s Smart Restore feature detects manual volume changes while muted. If you adjust volume using hardware buttons or system settings while SuperMute is active, it respects those changes instead of overwriting them.

Example:

  • You mute with SuperMute (ringtone was at 70%)
  • You manually adjust ringtone to 50% using volume buttons
  • You tap SuperMute to restore
  • Result: Ringtone restores to 50%, not 70%

This prevents SuperMute from undoing intentional changes you make while muted.

Common Use Cases

1. Muting Before Meetings or Calls

Swipe down and tap SuperMute as you enter a meeting. Tap again when you leave. Your phone returns to normal immediately.

2. Silencing Notifications in Public Spaces

Use SuperMute in libraries, theaters, or quiet offices. One tap silences everything except alarms and media.

3. Temporary Silence Without Losing Settings

Unlike Android’s built-in silent mode, SuperMute doesn’t require reconfiguring volume sliders afterward. Your settings are preserved exactly as they were.

4. Avoiding Accidental Alarm Suppression

SuperMute never touches alarm volume. You can mute your phone overnight without worrying about missing morning alarms.

What SuperMute Does (and Doesn’t) Control

SuperMute mutes:

  • Ringtone
  • Notifications
  • System sounds

SuperMute does NOT mute:

  • Alarms (your alarm clock will still work)
  • Media (music, videos, games continue at their current volume)

This design prevents you from accidentally silencing critical sounds while giving you full control over interruptions.

Tips for Best Results
  • Pin SuperMute in your notification shade for faster access (Android 12+)
  • Use hardware volume buttons if you need to adjust individual streams while muted
  • Check notification permissions if the toggle disappears unexpectedly
