Installing UPC Scanner
UPC Scanner is available on the Google Play Store and requires minimal setup. Installation takes less than a minute.
Step 1: Install from Google Play Store
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
- Search for “M Media UPC Scanner”
- Tap Install
- Wait for the download to complete
Note: UPC Scanner is not available on third-party app stores. Only install from Google Play to ensure you receive updates and security patches.
Step 2: Launch the App
- Tap Open from the Play Store, or find the UPC Scanner icon in your app drawer
- The app will request camera permission
Step 3: Grant Camera Permission
UPC Scanner requires camera access to scan barcodes.
- When prompted, tap Allow or Grant Permission
- Android will grant camera access
- You’re ready to scan
Why this permission is required: Camera access is necessary to capture barcode images. UPC Scanner does not save photos, access your camera roll, or transmit images. Scans are processed locally and discarded immediately after barcode detection.
Step 4: Begin Scanning
Point your camera at a barcode and wait for the scan confirmation. Scanned codes appear in your session list.
No account setup, logins, or configuration required.
Optional: Grant Storage Permission
If you plan to export CSV files, you’ll need to grant storage access when you first attempt an export. This permission is optional if you only want to view scanned codes within the app.
