Troubleshooting
This guide covers common issues and their solutions. If you don’t find your issue here, see the FAQ or contact support.
SuperMute Toggle Not Appearing in Notification Shade
Cause: Notification Access permission was not granted or was revoked.
Solution:
- Open Android Settings → Apps → SuperMute
- Tap Notifications
- Ensure notifications are enabled
- Go to Settings → Apps → Special App Access → Notification Access
- Find SuperMute and toggle it ON
- Return to your home screen and pull down the notification shade
Volume Not Restoring Correctly
Cause: Smart Restore detected manual volume changes while muted.
Explanation: If you adjust volume using hardware buttons or system settings while SuperMute is active, it respects those changes instead of restoring your pre-mute levels. This is intentional behavior.
Solution: Manually set your desired volume levels, then use SuperMute normally. Your new settings will be remembered.
SuperMute Mutes Alarms or Media
This should not happen. SuperMute is designed to ignore alarm and media streams.
If this occurs:
- Check your Android version (Settings → About Phone)
- Ensure you’re running Android 7.0 or newer
- Uninstall and reinstall SuperMute from Google Play
- If the issue persists, contact support with your device model and Android version
App Crashes or Force Closes
Solution:
- Clear app cache: Settings → Apps → SuperMute → Storage → Clear Cache
- Restart your device
- Update to the latest version from Google Play
- If crashes continue, uninstall and reinstall
If the problem persists, email crash logs to support@mmediasoftwarelab.com.
Battery Drain
SuperMute uses negligible battery. The app has no background services, network activity, or continuous processes.
If you experience battery drain:
- Check Android’s battery usage stats (Settings → Battery)
- Confirm SuperMute appears near the bottom of the list
- If SuperMute shows high usage, uninstall and reinstall the app
Notification Permission Keeps Getting Revoked
Cause: Some Android manufacturers (especially Xiaomi, Huawei, and Samsung) aggressively kill background processes.
Solution:
- Open Settings → Apps → SuperMute
- Look for “Battery Optimization” or “Power Saving”
- Set SuperMute to “Don’t Optimize” or “No Restrictions”
- Check for “Auto Start” or “Background Activity” toggles and enable them
SuperMute Doesn’t Work on My Device
Compatibility Check:
- Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer is required
- Some custom ROMs may have non-standard volume controls
- Heavily modified Android skins (MIUI, EMUI) may restrict functionality
If SuperMute is incompatible with your device, contact support with your device model and Android version.
