Medigap Pro runs on any standard WordPress hosting account. No dedicated server, custom PHP extensions, or external APIs are required – just WordPress 6.0+, PHP 8.0+, and an outbound email method.

WordPress

6.0 or later required. Tested up to 6.7.

Keep WordPress up to date. The plugin does not use deprecated APIs, but running a current version ensures compatibility with the block editor and REST API.

PHP

8.0 or later required. PHP 8.1 or 8.2 recommended.

The plugin uses named arguments, nullsafe operators, and union types introduced in PHP 8.0. PHP 8.1+ improves performance with fibers and enum support.

Hosting

Database

MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.3+ (standard WordPress requirement).

Medigap Pro creates one custom table ({prefix}cmg_leads) automatically on activation. No manual database setup is required.

Outbound Email

SMTP or wp_mail() required for lead notifications.

Medigap Pro includes a built-in SMTP panel — no extra mail plugin needed. Without SMTP credentials, lead notifications fall back to WordPress’s default wp_mail().

Recommended SMTP providers

Medigap Pro’s SMTP panel accepts credentials from any standard SMTP service. Transactional email providers are strongly recommended over shared hosting SMTP for reliable lead delivery.

  • SendGrid — Free tier (100 emails/day) sufficient for low-volume lead flow
  • Postmark — Best for transactional reliability; high deliverability scores
  • Mailgun — Flexible free tier; good for moderate volume
  • Amazon SES — Lowest cost at scale; requires domain verification
  • Any standard SMTP — Host, host port (465/587), username, and password are all that’s needed

What you won’t need

  • No specific theme — all styles are self-contained; works with any WordPress theme
  • No extra mail plugin — SMTP is configured directly inside Medigap Pro
  • No coding — the 4-step setup wizard and admin panels handle all configuration
  • No external API keys — plan data and ZIP lookups run entirely on your server
  • No page builder — shortcodes work in the standard WordPress block editor
